Our Senior Men take on Coolera/Strandhill, this Saturday, the 17th of August, at 7.30pm in Corran Park, Ballymote. The team had a comprehensive win over Ballymote in round 1. This is the final round of Group C and your support would be greatly appreciated. Reports on the teams championship games can be found on the club website under 'Match Reports'.

The Junior B men's team play St. John's (away) in round 1 of the championship on Sunday, the 18th of August. Following some great performances in the league campaign, we wish the team and management the best of luck with the championship.

The Minor footballers were due to play St. Mary's last weekend but the game was posponed. The team play Easkey this Thursday, the 15th of August, in Tourlestrane at 7pm in Tourlestrane.

The U-16 boys topped off winning ways on Bank Holiday Monday when they recorded an impressive win over Tubbercurry/Cloonacool. Some excellent defending coming from Darren Leonard at full back, great fielding of the ball and catches in the middle of the field from Ciaran Walsh with Ryan Bailey, Rian Kennedy, Liam Gaughan and Richie Lang causing constant trouble for the Tubbercurry defence up front. Final score from Tourlestrane was  3-14 to 2-4. The team play St. Mary's, who have also won their first three games, on Monday the 19th of August.

The U-14 boys will be in action in the final of the league this Wednesday, the 14th of August, when they take on Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in Tourlestrane at 7pm. The team are back on the field again on Friday, the 16th of August, when the play Ballymote away at 7 in round 2 of the championship.

Our Intermdediate ladies are back in action this weekend after a break last weekend. The team play St. Michael's, at home, this Sunday the 18th of August, in the last round of the group stages of the Intermediate championship. The girls are top of the group following three wins over Eoghan Rua, Eastern Harps and Curry in recent weeks. Following this game, there will be another break in the championship as Sligo Ladies play Down in the Intermediate All Ireland Quarter Final on the weekend of the 24th of August.

Our U-12 girls have played one round of the A Championship and were victorious over Owenmore Gaels. This talented team are continuing to train hard and are back in action this Friday, the 16th of August, when they play St. Mary's.

Our U-14 girls are playing in their first round of the championship on Monday the 19th of August, when they take on St. Nathy's. The team is strengthened by the experience of county players Molly Kennedy and Maeve Normanly.

The U-16 girls also take to the field this week when they play Owenmore Gaels (away) on Wednesday the 14th of August. Like the U-14 team, the U-16 team has two county representatives in Anna Corcoran and Sinead Mooney. Hard luck to Anna, Sinead and the Sligo Ladies U16 team who were unlucky in the All Ireland stages at the weekend.

Our U-16 hurlers also did the club proud on Sunday last when they lined out in the semi final of the A championship against Coolera/Strandhill. The team showed excellent skill throughout and ran out easy winners, 4-12 to 1-3. This is the teams third successive win in the championship, well done boys!!

The Senior Hurlers were out of luck twice in the last two weeks against the same oppoistion, Calry/St. Joseph's. Having suffered a heavy defeat in the final round of the championship, the team upped their performance but it just wasn't enough and they lost to a strong Calry/St. Joesph's team in the semi final of the league on Saturday evening last.

The U-14 hurlers recieved a walk-over over Castleconnor in the championship quarter final on Friday last.

The top news of the August Bank Holiday weekend was the announcement of Michael Cunney and Celtic Sheet Metal Inc., New York, as our new main sponsor of our club. Michael is a Tourlestrane native (Carane) but moved to America in the late 80's. He currently lives in New York with his wife, Ailish, a Curry native, and their three children, daughters Mikayla and Kristen and son Kevin, a keen footballer. Both Michael and Brendan, his brother and also part of Celtic Metal Work, were part of the U-12 team that won the county title in 1979. (Picture attached) We would like to sincerely thank Michael for his support and are looking forward to working with him and his family over the next three years. Thank you, also, to David Surlis who was involved with securing the new sponsor.

An interesting fact about the Senior Men and Intermediate Ladies Championship wins on the Bank Holiday weekend was that 3 Kelly Siblings, 3 Dunne Brothers, 2 Gaughan Brothers, 2 Henry Siblings, 2 McIntyre Siblings, 2 Leonard Siblings, 2 Walsh sisters, 2 Brennan Sisters all represented this club. This doesn't take into account players injured and/or substitutes which would increase this number again.

Reminder: As the football and hurling seasons are both in full swing, show your support for our teams and club by putting up your flags to show the men, ladies, boys and girls your support.

Congratulations to club-persons and keen dedicated supporters of the club, Bríd Leonard and Pat Cawley on both hosting very successful Lady Captain's Day and Captain's Day, respectfully, in Tubbercurry Golf Club recently.
