Congratulations to our U-16 Ladies team who were crowned County U-16 A Championship Winners in Tourlestrane on Thursday evening last, under the lights. The team overcame a super Drumcliffe/Rosses Point team on a score line of 2-12 to 3-4.
The team showed huge spirit to overcome the disappointment of losing the Minor Championship Final recently with 11 of the same players lining out again in the game 4 days later. A huge achievement for the girls who have put this title with their U-14 Feile and A Championship success.
Our girls started the first half with all guns blazing leading at half time on a score line of 2-5 to 2 points at half time. Drumcliffe/Rosses Point responded powerfully at the start of the second half scoring 1-2 without reply. Drumcliffe/Rosses Point were then awarded a penalty and it was Leonie Gaughans save which proved to be the crutial point of the game. In the closing quarter of the game, Drumcliffe/Rosses Point continued to attach but Collette Walsh pulled over numerous point blank saves to secure another very proud moment for the club in 2016.
