Club notes

The season is getting busy now with a few games played this weekend. Our minor lads started few club wins on Friday night with a 4 point win over Owenmore Gaels in a very exciting 60 minutes of football. Next up on Saturday morning were the senior ladies who faced Eastern Harps in the spring sunshine. We came out on top in this encounter with a nice win of 3/7 to 1/4
Our u16 boys travelled to Oxfield also on Saturday morning but were beaten by a much stronger DRP team. Sunday morning saw our Junior men take to the field to start their season off with a win over Cloonacool . Both teams swapped leads after Cloonacool got off to a winning start in the first 15 minutes but a combination of our fresh younger crew starting off this year and the 'less younger' experienced lads Tourlestrane picked some nice points and we took the lead and stayed ahead seeing us taking the win at the final whistle 14 points to 10.
Well done to Sligo with a nice win over Derry to stay in division three this afternoon. Also huge congratulations to St Attracta's Juvenile Team who won the Connacht B title during the week. The club was well represented so well done to the team and management.
Reminder of our Good Friday Family fundraising quiz night taking place again this year with great prizes to be had ! Also our Easter Camp is getting well booked so get in there and don't be disappointed ! It takes place on March 27th28th and 29th.
We heard with sadness of the passing of Dan Tuohy  during the week . Dan was a man of many faces throughout the parish of Tourlestrane and Aclare, as he and his late wife Phil were involved in various community groups over the years and gave unselfishly of their time and talents to all. He was one of the original promoters of the successful St Patrick's Day Parade in Aclare village but the club will remember him most for Hurling .
With a strong tradition of Hurling deeply rooted in his veins from his native county Clare he managed the senior Tourlestrane Hurling team alongside the Late Martin Brennan of Rhue and proudly led the lads to win 7 senior Sligo Hurling titles .
The club wishes to extend sympathy to Maria and Justin, to Fin and Sarena and to Dan's extended family . We also heard of the sad passing of Paddy Durcan Gorterslin Aclare, and the club extends sympathy to his wife Joan and his family .
Ní bheidh a leitheid ann arís. Ar dheis Dé go raibh siad.
