posted 9 Jul 2017, 13:04 by Tourlestrane GAA PRO

Tourlestrane retained the Kiernan cup Saturday morning when they proved too strong for St Molaise Gaels in perfect weather in Ballymote. Fifteen points separated the teams at the final whistle  and John Francis Carr was presented with the cup. The Junior men played  Shamrock Gaels Saturday evening but although goals were exchanged by both teams there were near misses some connecting with the posts and although keeper Alan Bowens made a few exceptional saves this time Tourlestrane finished the game with an 8 point deficit and were the losers on the night.

On Friday night our under 12 girls were victorious in the first round of their championship v Shamrock Gaels and also our u14 boys claimed the title of u14B League County champions when they held off a hard battling St John’s team to finish on top by 2 points. Huge congratulations to the team and Niall and David Surlis Managers and to Rian Bailey and Cian Surlis coaches also. The cavalcade around the parish with bonfires blazing was a sight to behold as everyone celebrated the future stars success.

Congratulation to Sligo u21 hurlers on their massive All Ireland Semi Final win in Markievicz Park on Saturday afternoon where the had a very convincing win over Louth. Tourlestrane were represented by Sean McVeigh Diarmuid Brennan and Gavin Feely and also Patrick Burke who is still injured.

The team won an All Ireland Blitz and in the final game of 5 played, they beat Westmeath by 1/6 to 1/3 with a goal and 4 points in this result scored  by the Tourlestrane girls !!!

Another fantastic medal winner is our local club member, Padraig Maye who picked up a huge tally of 5 medals at the Irish Life Health Masters Track and Field Championshps last weekend, a gold a silver and three bronze medals so Congrats Padraig.

Tourlestrane held another successful Cul Camp this week so many thanks to all the children for attending with exceptional behaviour and the feedback is that they enjoyed it immensely.
