Tourlestrane V Kilbride
Saturday. 12th of October 2013
Michael Glaveys GAA Grounds, Ballinlough

Kilbride were first off the mark with a point coming from full forward Eilish Fannon on the 2nd minute of play, Tourlestrane soon responded on the 4th minute with a point from Katie Walsh. A mix up in the Tourlestrane defence on the 6th minute after a break down of play saw Eilish Fannon through on goal as she smashed the ball to the back of the net, followed by another point from mid fielder Tara Taylor, this left the Tourlestrane on the end of a 1-2 to 0-1 point defeict in the opening two minutes. Tourlestrane then composed themselves and did not allow the Roscommon side score for 31 minutes. Claire McIntyre pointed from play on the 10th minute followed by two further points from Katie. An outstanding save came from Laura McIntyre on the 16th minute which gave our side an extra boost. On the 20th minute, Katie Walsh was dragged down going through on goal and converted the penalty into the bottown right corner, giving Patricia Shally in the Kilbride goalmouth no chance. It was in the same play that captain Shauna Henry picked up a knock to her ankle and had to be put into the full forward line. The score at half time, Tourlestrane 1-5 Kilbride 1-2.

Tourlestrane came out strong again in the second half and scored 2 unanswered points, excellent defending from Laura Neary, Jenny Lundy and Annmarie Kelly kept the Kilbride forwards quiet for the first 11 minutes of the half before Tara Taylor fired over from close range. It was Kilbrides final score as Tourlestrane enjoyed another purple patch with Niamh Kelly giving a player of the match display, with both herself and Shauna Henry picking up deserving points in the closing stages of the game, while an excellent block from Anna Corcoran in the final minutes on the Kilbride goalkeeper nearly lead a second goal for us.

The final score and a deserving result for our girls after a physical encounter was, Tourlestrane 1-10 Kilbride 1-3.

Our ladies will now play in the Connaught Final in two weeks time. Thank you to the large group of supporter who travelled to Ballinlough to support the team!
