Easter Monday: 9th of April 2012

THE 2011 senior champions, Tourlestrane, got the new season off to the best possible start by collecting their first piece of silverware with a good win over St. Molaise Gaels in the Kieran Cup final at Connolly Park, Collooney. The game saw the return to action of Eamon O'hara who lined out at wing back for Tourlestrane who also had most of last year's Championship winning team on duty.

There was little between the sides for much of the first half and the game was deadlocked at three points each when Tourlestrane came up with what proved to be a decisive goal just before half time. Brian Egan created the chance with a clever pass and Gary Gaughan supplied the finish, giving his side a 1-3 to 0-3 lead at the interval.

Brian Egan and Niall Hoey swapped points in the early stages of the second half but Tourlestrane gradually took control and three unanswered points, two from John Kelly and another from Egan, put them into a comfortable lead.

Martin Feeney raised the Gaels hopes with a good score but Tourlestrane were not to be denied and a well-taken point from play by Shane Dunne and another pointed free by Egan put them out of sight.

Keelan Watters hit a late consolation score for the Gaels but the South Sligo side ran out deserving winners.
